Eugene Sambataro, DDS
Holistic Dentist in Ellicott City, Maryland
Dr. Gene Sambataro has been practicing dentistry for over 44 years with special interests in orthodontics, dental orthopedics, temporomandibular joint disorder, sleep disordered breathing and ceramic implantology. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1980, completed a 1 year hospital residency at the University Hospital in Baltimore, and soon after started incorporating a more holistic approach to his practice.
Dr. Sambataro strives to educate his patients on how they can make healthier decisions in their lives, as well as sharing his knowledge around toxic-free dentistry, which avoids mercury amalgam fillings, fluoride, and toxic root canals. Nearly 80% of all illnesses can be connected to infections, toxicities, and imbalances in the mouth, which is one of the reasons he is so passionate about practicing Biological (or Holistic) Dentistry. He also had the opportunity to train with Dr. Hal Huggins starting in 1986 and still practices the Huggins Protocol to this day.
A few of his affiliations include a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, the Holistic Dental Association, the International Dental Implant Association, and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. He is also a Board Member for the Maryland Society of Integrative Medicine and the author of “Stop the Snore, Dental Solutions to Healthy Sleep,” as well as “Your Guide to Holistic Dental Implants: The Permanent Solution for Missing or Lost Teeth.” He is currently enrolled in the PhD program in Quantum Morphogenetic Physic and Science through the Bioregenesis Academy and has completed his Master’s degree.
He also completed a mini residency in Sleep Medicine at Tufts University. In addition, he has been treating temporomandibular joint disorders for over 30 years with training from Dr. Harold Gelb, Mariana Rocabodo, John Barnes, Dr. John Upledger, Dr. Jack Hayes, and Dr. Brendan Stock, to name a few.
Dr. Sambataro has also incorporated many healing modalities and biohacking tools, including photobiomodulation, PEMF, ozone, Biocharger, microcurrent, the RASHA, and more into his biological dental practice.
Why I Focus on Biological Dentistry
The truth is, I could no longer passively stand by, waiting for my patients and fellow healthcare providers to make healthier decisions on their own. I know that most people are either misinformed about—or unaware of—the risks associated with traditional dental practices and the benefits of biological dental care.
If you knew what I’ve learned about the dangers of mercury amalgam fillings, fluoride, toxic root canals, and gum disease, your decisions about dental health would likely be much easier.
For example, many physicians report that nearly 80% of all illnesses are related to infections, toxicities, and imbalances originating in the mouth.
I’ve chosen to focus on biological dentistry because I believe we are at the beginning of a fundamental shift in the practice of dentistry—a transformation that moves us away from emergency symptom management and toward compassionate, comprehensive, and preventive biological care. This approach truly embraces the philosophy of Hippocrates: “First, do no harm.” In this health-oriented model, dentists can begin to serve as a patient’s Primary Care Physician.
